Workshop Overview

The ICU Advanced Ultrasound Hands-On workshop is a unique hands-on experience in point-of-care applications of portable ultrasound.
During a series of hands-on sessions, participants will practice capturing specific ultrasound views on live models and phantoms under the guidance of experienced instructors. The sessions will be clinically case-oriented to improve participants’ technical skills of bedside ultrasound.

The workshop is intended for physicians with previous knowledge of the fundamental principles of ultrasound technology and basic operation of portable ultrasound machines.

This is an advanced training workshop and previous training in a basic point-of care ultrasound course is a prerequisite.

Topics covered include:GE- Venue 50

  • Cardiac & shock ultrasound assessment
  • Chest & pulmonary ultrasound
  • DVT (Deep Venous thrombosis) doppler ultrasound assessment
  • Ultrasound guided vascular access applications

Workshop Objectives

  • Practice techniques of focused bedside diagnostic ultrasound, including imaging of the heart, lungs, chest cavity, deep venous system and vascular access
  • Hands-on practice of exams on live models
  • Practice interpretation of normal and abnormal ultrasound images

Workshop description

Participants will be divided into practice groups led by an experienced instructor.
In each session participants will practice recommended ultrasound protocols and patient assessment on phantoms and live models.
