This unique workshop is the first joint collaboration between Eldan, the Israeli Society of Frontier Medicine and the Israel Association of Family Physicians. The workshop is tailored to the specific needs of Primary Care/ Family physicians for the use of ultrasound as an important and useful diagnostic tool in family-practice clinics.
During a series of hands-on sessions, participants will practice capturing specific ultrasound views on live models and phantoms under the guidance of experienced instructors. The hands-on sessions will be complemented by didactic lectures to improve the participants’ knowledge of the technical skills and limitations of bedside ultrasound.
Topics covered include ultrasound guided evaluation of the abdominal aorta, kidneys, bladder, liver, gallbladder, spleen, chest and FAST.
Learning objectives
- Fundamental principles of ultrasound technology and basic operation of a portable ultrasound machine
- Techniques to perform focused diagnostic ultrasound examinations at the bedside, including imaging of the lungs, chest cavity and major abdominal organs
- Hands-on practice of exams on live models and phantoms
- Practice interpretation of normal and abnormal ultrasound images
